Frequently asked questions :
1) What is LPG /Autogas?
See page fuel.htm
2) Can all vehicles be converted to Autogas ?
Almost any petrol vehicle can be converted to operate on Autogas/LPG. Cars with carburetor as well as Multi Point Fuel Injection as well as cars with catalytic converters car be used to operate on Autogas.
3) What type of Conversion kits are available ?
Primarily the kits based on the Vapouriser system are of two types. One which are based on vaccum /suction principle and the other on Electronic System. Vacuum Vapouriser (PRV) are ideally meant for cars with Carburetor whereas Electronic Vaporiser are meant to be used on MPFI (fuel injectors) cars. However even electronic kits can be used on cars with carburetors which provides an enhanced performance and safety features. For more details contact us.
4) How safe is Autogas as a fuel ?
Autogas is proven to be safest automotive fuel worldwide. The Autogas tanks/cylinders are made of high quality steel and reinforcement which do not crack-up in case of accident. Propane tanks are manufactured from ¼-inch steel. They are resistant to deformation and puncture.
Also in case of leakage the gas escapes into the open air and does not remain in the engine to catch fire. Also the LPG cylinders/tanks are placed horizontally in a car and the adaptor allows the liquid to flow all the way upto the solenoid valves before converting into gas. In case of an impact most quality solenoids close or trip to avoid flow of fuel to the engine. Safety mainly depends on the quality of components like the PRV, Solenoids etc. and the fitting. We provide ISO-9001/2 products which are proven worldwide and have been exported to over 45 countries since 1958.
Moreover, a device called hydrostatic relief valve is generally placed between the gas tank and the fuel line. This valve regulates the pressure of the gas within the pipeline and the tank and releases the gas if there is a rare pressure build up. Also the tanks are filled to only 80% of the total capacity leaving enough scope of expansion due to temperature changes. Also the tank device i.e the "MULTIVALVE" has a pressure relief valve.
5) Can the A/C be also run with Gas?
The car engine which is run with Autogas generates optimum power to easily take the load of the A/c compressor even with full laden load.
6) What would be the affect on the engine ?
Usage of LPG can increase the engine life upto three times because of the dry and gaseous nature of propane. Also, the almost total lack of carbon residue deposited inside the engine keeps the engine and the engine oil cleaner and reduces the internal wear and tear of the engine. Also there is no washing away of the lubricating layer of oil/lubricant on piston rings/ cylinder walls in LPG use compared to Petrol. It is established that engines running on LPG last twice as long as that on Petrol.
Tests and practical records maintained by LPG users have shown that piston and rings last more than 2.5 times in LPG driven engines than petrol engines.
Longer spark plug and oil life
Increased engine smoothness
7) What would happen if I run out of Gas ?
No problem. These are duel fuel systems, i.e you can switch over the car to Petrol and vice -versa by means of a simple electronic switch instantly without even stopping the car. The switch is conveniently located on the dashboard of the car.
8) Would the performance, top speed be the same as Petrol ?
Tests show that cars on Autogas generate 10% less power which translated into 3% loss of top speed. This however is negligible and can be compensated with proper tuning by advancing the ignition of the car and increasing the idling. A proper conversion and tuning by an technical person would ensure that the car performs almost the same as that to Petrol and no change is performance is noticeable.
9) How much time would the installation take? Would there be any changes to the car?
The installation of the kit is quite precise. A proper job would take about 4-6 hours depending of the type and condition of the car. There would be no changes to the engine whatsoever and only additional devices installed with minimal drilling etc.
10) Can the car be used on Highway, Hilly regions, bad roads ??
The kits provided by us are very durable, proven and reliable. As mentioned in our earlier sections LPG has higher octane rating of 110 amongst all octane fuels and generates enough power to use the car in all terrains. There is no problem to run the car on Indian highways (even full with pot holes). LPG is also being used to power heavy vehicles vis trucks and buses in most European countries.
